Important Soap Lake Centennial Meeting Announced

Soap Lake Elementary School

Come find out how the plans are coming and maybe find a way to get involved.
It might be something you can do without meetings or leaving your house!  

We are starting to take dates for your centennial events now. Cutoff will be sometime in December 2018.
These will be added to a printed calendar of events to be published and distributed in January 2019 

The committee is currently focusing on several celebration dates:

• Centennial Kickoff during Winterfest 2018. There will be fireworks!
• June 9, 2019 - The anniversary of incorporation.  This will include speeches, dedication of plaque and perhaps time capsule, picnic in the park, and a big group picture of all the people attending.
• Expand Suds-N-Sun 2019 - with your help - to fill the weekends between June 9 and July 6 and maybe beyond.

• Close the year with an extended Winterfest 2019 Celebration. 

The committee is also facilitating story collecting, archiving, displaying, and publishing. We have some great people starting this effort.

To start off our next 100 years we’d like to encourage sprucing things up around town. 
Examples:

• The old James Cafe & Tavern will be receiving a new coat of paint.
• There is a group keeping Lava Links in playing condition.
  
• The Trash Mob keeps picking it up. 
• Main Street planting areas are being maintained by a few dedicated volunteers.
